Membership
Faith Family recognizes church membership as an important component of both individual and corporate spiritual growth. We believe like-minded followers of Christ should be accountable to one another and serve one another in various ways for the building up of the local church (Romans 12:3-5; Ephesians 6:10).
Step 1: Membership Matters
Several times a year we offer our “Membership Matters” class for those new to our church family. This one-day class provides you with a biblical understanding of membership and how it is practiced at FFBC. It is also your chance to ask any questions you may have about our church and its ministries. Membership Matters is open to anyone who would like to explore membership and better understand the mission, vision, and culture of Faith Family Baptist Church.
The class covers:
- The Importance of the Church
- What is the Church?
- What is a Healthy Church?
- Who is Faith Family Baptist Church?
Attending a Membership Matters class does not commit you to membership, but is required prior to joining.
Step 2: Membership Interview
As part of the Membership Matters class you will fill out a questionnaire so the leaders of FFBC can get to know you better. Once you've attended a class, a pastor or staff member will schedule a causal meeting with you to learn more of your story, discuss your conversion, and further answer any questions you might have about life at FFBC.
Step 3: Membership Presentation
After meeting with a pastor or staff member, your name will be presented to FFBC members for consideration into membership. Because the congregation of FFBC votes on all new members, at this point, many in our church family will proactively get to know you and your family for a few week's time. Don't be suprised if members invite you to meals or initate a friendship to get to know you better. This is a chance to ask more questions and get to know the families in our community.
Step 4: Congregational Affirmation
The final step is for the members of Faith Family to vote and receive you into membership. We vote on new members in Family Meetings or occasionally during special business meetings called into session at the end of a worship service. If you are affirmed into membership by a majority vote of FFBC members, you will be publicly recongized during a worship service as a new member of Faith Family Baptist Church.
